Approximately 10 million hectares of forests are cut down each year worldwide, this cannot continue to happen.
The forest of the Andean mountains has been lost by 70%
Colombia has one of the highest rates of deforestation in the world; nearly three and a half million hectares are lost each year, destroying
environmental services such as water, clean air, and biodiversity.
That’s why we at the Neotropic Foundation created the “Adopt a Tropical Forest” program.
The time is now!
You can help protect our forests, along with their fauna, flora, and the communities that depend on them. Donate and make a real contribution to the conservation and recovery of this land.
We are a non-profit civil organization whose mission is forest conservation through research and education.
Environment
“Many small people, in small places, doing small things, can change the world.”
Eduardo Galeano (1940-2015)
When you adopt a square meter of rainforest, the Neotrópic Foundation gives you:
- A unique donation certificate with the exact coordinates of your square meter, visible through Google Earth.
- Access to information available on the area you are helping to protect.
- The freedom to visit the area (depending on the carrying capacity of the territory).
By adopting a square meter of rainforest, you act as a guardian of the planet:
- You are helping to conserve biodiversity.
- You are supporting the communities living near conservation areas.
- You are playing an important role in creating local jobs and supporting the rangers in our reserves.
Conservation Projects
The Neotropic Foundation conservation area covers 2,149 hectares and is located in the municipality of Santa Rosa de Cabal (Risaralda, Colombia). It consists of the following properties: CHUPADEROS SACRISTÁN – EL PEÑOL – LA LIBERTAD – LA SELVA, and EL RETIRO. It is part of the buffer zone of the Los Nevados National Natural Park. At the top of the property is the Paramillo de Santa Rosa Volcano, which, like the other volcanoes in Los Nevados Park, boasts unparalleled scenic beauty. Walking its ecological trails, you can not only appreciate the area’s biodiversity, but also take advantage of the medicinal hot springs, which have made Paramillo de Santa Rosa de Cabal (Risaralda) famous.
